How I would have handled Boko Haram, by Obasanjo

Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Tuesday said if the Boko Haram insurgence had erupted during his term in office, he would have ended the serial killings by adopting what he described as “carrot and stick” approach as he did with the Niger Delta militants.
Obasanjo, spoke on Tuesday in a special Hausa programme of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), which was monitored in Maiduguri, Borno State, the home base of the radical Islamic sect.
He said: “What I will do to bring an end to the serial killings and bombings in the northern states, was the adaptation of the carrot and stick approach on the Niger Delta militants, where I invited 35 different leaders of the militants from the region and listened to all their grievances against the Federal Government and their traditional leaders, whom they alleged had been conniving with the latter.”
According to Obasanjo, the carrot would include addressing “poverty and unemployment” in the North, while the stick could be in the form of dialogue and “massive intelligence gathering” by the security agents to root out perpetrators of the alleged serial killings and bombings.
Meanwhile, the family of Mohammed Baba Fugu has noted that Obasanjo’s statement on the Boko Haram sect and his visit to the late Babakura Fugu on September 15, 2011 have caused more havoc and devastation to their members.
Yakolo Baba Fugu, the younger sister to the late Babakura told the BBC that Obasanjo’s alleged statement that he had no regret on the death of her brother was very unfair, inconsiderate and painful to the entire members of the Fugu family.
According to her, the former president’s visit created nothing, other than sadness and pains.
“Obasanjo’s visit to Maiduguri has no impact on our lives. We thought after his visit to Maiduguri, we would have roof on our heads. But the whole thing has turned out to be a terrible encounter with the former president. Our family members are now in a worsening situation. Babakura died and left behind 10 children from two wives and all of them are squatting with members of the larger family.”
But Obasanjo maintained that his visit to Fugu’s family was a fact-finding one on the Boko Haram revolt in Borno State.

Edo govt to immortalise Sam Loco

Late Sam Loco-Efe

Edo State Government, Sunday, announced plans to immortalise the late veteran actor, Mr. Sam Loco Efe, who passed on in August. Governor Adams Oshiomhole said government will rename a street after Sam Loco while making his speech at the lying-in-state of late Loco at Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, Benin.
Oshiomhole said: “In Edo State, I believe that it would not be enough to make all the rhetoric. We have decided to immortalise the late Sam Loco by naming a street after him. It will be a street that has been rebuilt and not one with potholes. When people drive on it they will remember the contributions of our late brother.
“Sam Loco, by his contributions, simply cannot possibly die because his works will be played back and even children yet unborn will be able to watch and see his contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
“As I remarked in the condolence register, Sam reconnected all of us in our living rooms at various times. Several governors sent me condolence messages.
“It shows that this man wrote his own history by his works. So to the family, you have every reason to be proud to say I am the son or the daughter of Sam Loco.”

The Tonto and 2faces stage romance

I used to think that most things are done when you are likely seeking attention and not when you must have got it. I still think that there are things one should put a stop to at a particular level in life. But still do not understand why Tonto Dike has decided to ignore the public and continue with her act. Is it all for money? Now  for those who were at Tuface's show, did y'all see what Tuface and Nollywood actress Tonto Dike did on stage? Mehn that was the highpoint of the show...for me! O bad baje baje mehn! Someone took off top, took off bra, another one took off belt, there was touchy-touchy, kissy-kissy, but it was all play-play for the show. See, I can rhyme...:-)  Anyway pics of Tuface and Tonto in a stimulating act on stage (behind a curtain)...when you continue.............

Being polygamous is never an added plan to my achievemnt - Tuface Idibia

If there was anything any man would wish for, it will be never to be involved with negative issues but not withstanding, Tuface tried to prevent it but ended up with what he feared the most. hear what he had to say about his polygamous life...
"Having kids with different women definitely affected me. But all in all, people will talk, others will criticize, while some will rejoice at their fellow man's misfortune because that's how human beings are. But I was really affected. Would I have been bigger is if it hadn't happened? That I don't know. Maybe all those things happened to prevent me from doing something worse. Polygamy was never part of my plan. Everybody has their plans and mine was never to be polygamous. But I would have done the same thing again, which is to accept the children. I love my children" Tuface Idibia to Chilee Agunanna of Encomium mag.........

50 Lawyers To Defend Two Young Men Awaiting Amputation For Stealing Cow

No fewer than 50 lawyers have reportedly indicated their interest to defend the two young men in Zamfara State that are billed to have their wrists amputated free of charge.

Auwah Abubakar Tsanre (23) and Lawwali Musa Tsanre (22), were found guilty by an Upper Sharia Court in Gusau for stealing a cow valued at N130,000, belonging to one Alhaji Bawa Dangande.

A rights activist, Mr Anthony Agboh, told Saturday Tribune in Gusau that the lawyers were contacted by civil organisations in the state in connection with the case.
He said the rights groups believed their conviction was an error.

He stated that though the teenagers were convicted under the sharia law being practiced in the state,  “we were told for a judge to pass this kind of judgment, certain criteria need to be made like where the convicts gainfully employed before committing the theft or what engineered them to steal the cow, or whether the owner carelessly leaves the cow without proper protection.”

Similarly, the Christians indigenous group has appealed to the state government to temper justice with mercy.

Speaking through its Public Relations Officer, Mallam Musa Tsafe, the group pleaded that the teenagers be forgiven.
Tsafe charged that the issue of robbery, theft, or any other social vices could be attributed to the failure of government at all levels to cater for their people.
He stressed that if the people had jobs and could afford to sponsor their kids to school and pay electricity bills, all the rampant cases of theft and  robbery would be reduced to the bearest level.
Meanwhile, two persons sentenced to amputation by  the Higher Shari’ah Court in Nasarawa Mailayi in Birnin Magaji local Government of  Zamfara State have filed an appeal less than 48 hours to its execution.

A source told our correspondent that the convicts were seeking to overturn the verdict.
Findings, however, showed that all arrangements had been concluded for the execution of the ruling delivered by the Shari’ah Court judge, Justice Muhammadu Abubakar, in accordance with the provision of Shari’ah.

The state governor, Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar, had during the 100-day in office celebration, vowed to allow the execution of the judgment if the convicts fail to appeal.
“They are going to be the third and fourth cases of amputation in the history of shari’ah in our state,” the governor said.

"I am not responsible for Super Eagles defeat" - T.B Joshua

The man of God predicted that we won't qualify for Nations Cup...and we didn't. Some people are blaming him. Pastor T.B Joshua is having none of that. He tells encomium magazine:
Nobody can claim to love Nigeria more than I do. I only tell people what God revealed to me. I can't control it. During the ministrations two Sundays ago which was televised live, I said God revealed the outcome of the encounter to me which was not favourable to Nigeria. They should check my track record. All my predictions on Nigerian football have been accurate simply because I love football and I always pray about it before the match

The inspiring life of Steve Jobs

Just as the world was getting used to the death of Africa’s first female Nobel Laureate, Professor Wangari Maathai, who fell to the scourge of cancer, another, even bigger global figure, Mr. Steve Jobs, fell to pancreatic cancer. His passing was announced by the Apple Company, which he co-founded.

If indeed the world has become a global village and this is the age of informational and technology world order, Jobs was among those who made it so. Unlike Nigeria’s Professor Philip Emeagwali, he was not into super-computing. And unlike Bill Gates, his peer at Microsoft, he was not that much into software.

Steve jobs was a design innovator extraordinaire, who led the revolution that has enabled mankind to take the computer with them wherever they go and perform instant miracles by just touching screen surfaces.

He transformed the computer from being just a “personal” property to its actually being a part of its user, thus the “i” phenomenon. These devices converged technology into iPhones, iPads, iPods, iMac and iTunes and other digital devices from his Apple Group that bring the world to one’s fingertips. Jobs was one of the giants of the modern world, who democratised knowledge and made it accessible to those who dared to grab it.

Not surprisingly, therefore, when his death was announced on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the age of 56, the torrent of tributes came from all corners of the world, whose lifestyle he helped changed forever.

For us in Vanguard, the life of Jobs was inspiring in that therein lies a lesson for all people of the world that greatness can come from the most disadvantaged quarters so long as one is determined to conquer the odds of human existence. Almost everything about Steve Jobs seems a well-laid plot to prove a point that all it takes to change the world are vision and innovation.

Here was a man, who was born out of wedlock. He was given up for adoption when he was born. In some cultures he would be looked upon as an “illegitimate child” and victimised accordingly.

My Wife Pregnant When I Travelled, Sailor Tells Court

A Sailor, Mr. Stephen has dragged his wife, Mrs. Funke Oyeniran before an Agege Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria seeking the dissolution of their six-year old marriage over irreconcilable differences.
In his petition before the court, Stephen accused his wife of not taking care of his daughter. He alleged that his wife took the child away from him since 2009.
The father of four said he was surprised when he learnt his wife was pregnant adding that he was away from the country for six months due to the nature of his profession.
He accused his wife of being fetish saying, “I searched her bag and saw multi-coloured candles wrapped together with my name and my mother’s name written underneath.”

Life before and after for Nigerian celebrities

The entertainment industry in Nigeria is one sector of the Nigerian economy that has provided not only jobs for many youths but also made stars and celebrities out of them. For most of those in the industry today, they would not have envisaged the kind of fame they now find themselves in some years back.

One thing that is always said to be constant in life is change and below is some of Nigerian celebrities when they started and how they look now. Please enjoy and catch your fun.

SEGUN ARINZE

For Padonou Segun Arinze Aina, coming into the industry was first through music in 1992 with album then titled ‘Nwanyi Yanga.’ Segun has risen from just the normal bad boy actor in films to the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria.

His scary and bulking trademark eyes have now been covered with smooth skin. Thanks to the power of cash and fame. The once ugly boy to many women has now become the most handsome man in the world. Segun would laugh at himself whenever he sees how handsome he was then compared to now.

EUCHARIA ANUNOBI

Looking back to when Eucharia and Zack Orji acted together in Glamour Girls, one will definitely agree that Eucharia has had a good and fast body change. From her skinny body then, to a now robust body-shape, she has every reason to say thanks to Nollywood for the changes.

RAMSEY NOAH

Ramsey is one actor that many see as the first to act the role of a lover boy well in films, until the likes of Mike Ezuruonye, Nonso Diobi, Van Vicker and now, Majid chased him out of such roles. With his half caste look, he was a perfect character for producers in the game then. Ramsey started in a TV soap opera, Fortunes. He has grown from his funny and skinny boy look then to a more matured and well bodily built man.

GENEVIEVE NNAJI

Genny, as Genevieve Nnaji is fondly called, started her acting career in a TV soap tilted Ripples, as a child actress at the age of eight. She got her first role in the movie, Most Wanted, in 1998 at the age of 19, and has moved on since then to be the face of African film. Once referred to as the African Julia Roberts by CNN. She has moved from the once skinny and fragile girl, to a good shaped, strong and bold woman.

SOUND SULTAN

Unarguably one of the most talented artistes Nigeria can boast of. Naija Ninja, as he is fondly called, has grown from the once skinny boy to a nicely built father and husband. I guess he would be happy with the change that has happened to him.

2FACE IDIBIA

Referred to as being one of the best to have come out of Africa, Tubaba, as he is called, is still taking his position as an icon to young artiste. From his Plantashun Boiz days, he has become a true African star. You can only laugh at how things have changed about this Olori oko bam bam...........

WEIRD MC

This Allen Avenue crooner is undoubtedly the longest serving Nigerian female rapper in the game. She has seen the storm and stood still in the business. Though not much body change, but it is better now compared to when she came into the industry.

WANDE COAL

For Wande Coal, his body change has become too pronounced; you wonder how the once small bodied Wande has become a robust bodied WC. Thanks to the Mohits family that brought fame and fortune to this Bumper to Bumper crooner.

Watch out for more

Will 2face ever marry?

In a recent interview 2face reveals his plan for the future
Quote
As we go through life,we all suffer betrayals.Even Jesus was betrayed by one of his disciples Judas Iscariot.I have been betrayed but I won’t want to comment about it.
It’s a path so painful that I don’t even want to go there.Just like betrayals,I have also suffered heartbreak on account of a woman.
Again,it’s better to let sleeping dogs lie.Let me just say that love is a strong force which can conquer anybody, even if you are Tuface. It happened to me long ago.
I have loved and have been loved. When it comes to love,I am as Innocent as my name Innocent Idibia.I have never come across a virgin all my life. The only person I have disvirgined is me.Myself.The fact that I have not come across a virgin does not mean there are no virgins. What I am saying is that I have never jammed a virgin. I don’t know what I will do the day I come across a virgin. Will I marry her?
The truth is marriage is not in my plans.I will never marry.Let me put it that bluntly. I don’t want to marry. I am angry.”

We deserve the insults – Siasia

Nigeria coach Samson Siasia says his team deserve all the insults thrown their way by fans after failing to qualify for next year’s African Nations Cup.

The Super Eagles gave up a late goal to draw 2-2 with Guinea and miss out on qualification, with fan abuse trailing them since.

Siasia says the team deserve it

”We deserve all the insults we are getting. In the end, we failed to qualify and that hurt the fans, so they have a right to be angry,” Siasia said.

”We are also hurt, because as much as the fans want ed to see us at the Nations Cup, it pains us more than it pains them.

INCONSOLABLE — Taye Taiwo hides his face in shame after Eagles failed to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

”We have young players who were looking forward to their first Nations Cup. We have experienced ones who wanted to return there to challenge again.

”We have found it hard to sleep because everyone is thinking about what happened.”

But Siasia says the team can take comfort from the progress that has been made in a short time

”In the few months we have been here, the team has grown younger, we are tactically stronger, we play the ball quicker than before, we create more than 7 chances in every game and we have not failed to score more than two goals. Except for the friendly against Argentina.

”So this team is doing well. It was just a communication problem at the end. We thought we were going through at 2-1, but we were not sure if that was enough, and we didn’t want to take any chances thats why we were pushing. Otherwise, we could have held on at 2-1.”

Siasia’s future remains uncertain, with the NFF having issued him an administrative query in their quest for answers, but the coach says he is prepared for the worst
”It is not in my hands now. Whatever the NFF decide, we will accept. If they want us to stay, we will carry on rebuilding this team in the right way.

”If they don’t, we will say thank you and move on. That is the way football works.”

The Nigeria team face arch rivals Ghana on Tuesday in London, and Siasia says an immediate response is imperative

”We have to put what happened behind us. There is nothing we can do about it. We just have to learn from our mistakes and make sure we play a good game and win against Ghana.”

VANGUARD NIGERIA

Homosexuality Takes Over Nigeria ..Real Reasons Men Are Into It +How You Can Spot A Gay

We hear about it every day, it's always in the news and they make us wonder if it's normal for any one to be gay. Some say it's devilish, others say they are psychic. The fact remains that even in a country like Nigeria, they have existed, and are existing, no matter how we try to lash them with our tongues, kick against it or criticise them.

Can you tell if a man is gay by looking at him? Some people say that you can. There is a certain way that a man stands, sits, walks and dresses that is typically considered 'gay.' Commonly, it is the flexed hand, feminine twitch in the walk, and a feminine lean (with the hip sticking out to one side) when they stand, but most times, it will be so hard to tell if a man is gay because he may not act like the above, he may just be like any other guy.

It has also been said that there is a particular look within a gay man's eyes that tells you he is homosexual. This look in the eyes is something that is very difficult to actually describe, and only some people can actually see this 'gay' look in a man's eyes.

Some people think that it's possible to tell if a man is gay by his interests. An interest in hair, make-up, and fashion are often considered as feminine or 'gay' characteristics. There are many confirmations of gay men in these professions however, not all men in these professions are gay. Some gay men have 'normal' manly jobs. Others say they can tell that a man is gay by the sound of his voice. The truth is that many gay men do have softer, higher pitched, more feminine voices. Of course, there are muscular, very masculine men with deep voices that are gay.

Is there really any way to tell? It depends on that person. If they are trying to make a point about their sexual orientation, it will be obvious. If they are not, it will probably be more difficult to tell. There are signals within the gay community that help gay men find each other. Perhaps it takes one to know one. Otherwise, some straight people have a sort of sixth sense when it comes to spotting gay men.

Here are a few signs you should be aware of to know if your partner/friend/brother/ colleague might be gay

……he loves to wear clothes that are too tight and too “trendy”.

“Gay men don't need words to communicate their availability for sex 'hook ups,'” “They silently broadcast the news by showing off their lean, hard bodies in designer clothing label.

……most times, you catch him having non-verbal communication with other men, which you may find unusual -- a look, a touch or hug that lasts a little too long or has undertones of intimacy.

…..he is in possession of pornography depicting men engaged in sex acts with other men (videos, magazines, photos stored on his computer).

……when he talks, he uses a lot of feminine gestures like rolling his neck, sucks his teeth, folds his arms when he gets mad and just acts more like a lady.

These signs are not scientifically proved but they do definitely help keeping you aware and prepared, just in case.

…..Gay people hiding inside the closet are usually very vocal about their distaste and hatred for gay men. While it seems a little counterintuitive, there is a reason why they do it. Because they don't want to be caught or be suspected that they are members of the third sex, they would cover their true identity by blatantly expressing their rage against gay men. They also tend to overdo this; thus, they become harsh gay-bashers.

….Many women like him, but he doesn't care about them.

. ….He could have a girl friend or a wife but he spends more time for his male friend.

….. He tells you that you can not understand him really.

…… He feels there is nothing interesting with women.

…… He loves beauty very much. (that's why most gays are in the fashion industry).

…... He is a sensitive man.

…. He will try to show everyone that he is manly.

….. He spends much time to take care of his facial, skin, outfit, hair, fingers etc.

…..even if he has a girl friend and manages to have sex with her, he usually prefers it from the back (anal sex).

…..Buying or receiving expensive, intimate, or overly personal gifts from other men ……he keeps unusually high percentage of male friends who are gay.

Warning…..these are just LIKELY SIGNS, it is not 100% established or scientifically proved so in case you find your friends/lovers/brothers in any of these categories, hey wait, don't attack yet, a man may be like any guy next door and still be gay, and he may behave like one,

while he is not!

I can't withstand violence in a relationship. I was once a victim. The relationship lasted for about three/four years. I didn't know who I was then. I was so timid, I almost stopped smiling and almost stopped laughing, but there was this inner strength in me that helped me to rediscover myself. In fact, I had no self esteem then. I wanted to change and be who I was not, based on the ill treatment and violent nature of my man then. He was constantly abusing, beating and battering me inside the house and in public places. I think there was a time when I walked round with bandage on my leg, courtesy of my violent lover. Funny enough, this violent lover of mine claimed to love me and wanted to marry me then.
I wanted to marry him. I had started buying pots and other household items because I was in love. I wanted to settle down, I wanted to have my children with him. I wanted to be happy and continue to do my work but he was that bad. I kept think he would change, but he didn't. I tried my best to be everything to him, but finally I said enough was enough, this relationship was not of God and not for me. During those turbulent periods, I was ashamed. I couldn't tell anybody. Why did I stay? It's very ironical because after the beating comes the gifts, the begging, the cries and words like 'It's your fault, I'd try and change, it's not me..' Everybody will now be saying forgive him, he's begging. In one of the beatings, he broke my ankle..but let's not dwell much on things of the past.

I don't understand why some women shield violent men. Why would you not want to mention his name? Someone beats you silly for many years, you do an interview and you refuse to call him out? Who do you think she's talking about? Sammie Okposo maybe? I've never liked that man...now I know why!

Pastors wives and their amazing lifestyle

Folu Adeboye is the wife of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The hat has become her trademark of sort. Though, she is chauffeur driven all the time, she prefers the not too loud auto mobiles because of her belief. It is also rare to see her wearing jewelries; this also applies to her make-ups.

She is the director of Teen and Children Ministry, RCCG, president of Good Women Ministry, an educationist and a practical theologian.

A good number of times when you see Margaret Idahosa, it is most certain that she will wear the Anita Baker Hair Style.
